I am always amazed at humanity's ability and willingness to step up and help their fellow humans. The recent disasters in Japan and more close to home in Slave Lake, Alberta are a testament to how incredibly amazing people are.
And then I wonder how come there are still so many children dying every year, especially in Africa. The United Nations pegs the number of children dying form water-borne diseases alone at 25,000 per day. Do 'their' governments care? Do their people care? Or do they expect that we will figure out the problem so they don't have to? I am not making judgements here - I truly do not know the answer but the problem still keeps me up some nights.
